has been chosen to be part of the European Film Awards Documentary Film Selection 2022 – the list of films recommended to the members of the European Film Academy for a nomination in the category ‘European Documentary’ at the European Film Awards 2022.
The festival’s description of the award reads :
“Diana El-Jeiroudi and Orwa Nyrabia are one of the most respected couples in the documentary world. In 2018, after a career as an actor and producer, Orwa became the director of IDFA, the prestigious documentary festival in Amsterdam. Diana is a director whose works have been selected in the main world events. Together they signed the recent Republic of Silence (2021), already screened in Venice, an autobiographical tale that brings their lives as Syrian exiles to the big screen.”
REPUBLIC OF SILENCE is screening as part of the Official Selection of the festival at Cinema Lumiere sala Scorsese, Piazzetta P. P. Pasolini, 2/b, on June 18th, at 5.00 pm.

REPUBLIC OF SILENCE is screening as part of the International Competition at the International Documentary Film Festival BelDocs in Belgrade Serbia.
I will be there to present the film Screening on Friday the 13th of May 2022 @ 19:00 at the Belgrade Cultural Centre .
Earlier in that evening @ 17.00-18.00 at the Yugoslav Film Archive, I will join the panel discussion on Female Gaze and Storytelling together with my colleague filmmaker Biljana Tutorov.
The screening will be of the International version of the film.
